Each team will be selected by the NGNE selection panel to compete in the
tournament.
-
The team list and contract must be returned upon your selection to the tournament.
-
NGNE will determine which region your team will compete in the tournament.
-
There may be Qualifying shows that will determine the entry of some teams.
-
Multiple teams may be selected. For example, two AKA teams from different chapters could compete in the same regional or qualifying show. However, no more than two of the same fraternal organizations will be selected to compete in a show.
-
Each team must be prepared to bring an alumni judge to represent their organization on the judging panel. There will be one judge from each of the (9) fraternal organizations. NGNE reserves the right to select the judges for the panel. In some regions, there may be only (8) judges.
-
Each team will be required to include a traditional step in the show and include information about the purpose of their respective organizations.
-
The overall step performance category of the judging criteria will allow for scoring reductions for profanity and sexually explicit material.
-
Each team will have a total of 10 minutes to perform including the Intro and Exit step. There is a two minute grace period. The clock starts when the first member steps in full view of the judges and time keeper and/or when the music or vocals start.
-
Four points will be deducted for each minute overtime.
-
The high and low score will be eliminated and the highest average wins.
-
The first and second place fraternity and sorority winners will advance
from the regional to the semi-final round.
-
The first and second place finishers will advance from the semi-final
round to the championship.
-
Only the first place teams will advance from a Qualifying show, unless the NGNE panel deems otherwise.
-
In the event a semi-final is not scheduled for a region, then the first place team from the regional will advance to the championship from that region. The second place team may also be selected by NGNE as a wild card entry.
-
In the event that two teams of the same organization places, then the next team with the highest score will also advance to the next round. For example, if two XYZ teams place 1st and 2nd respectively, and another team places 3rd, then a 4th place team may be selected to advance to diversify the show.
-
Each team must have all music cued on one tape. A person should be assigned to instruct the sound person during the performance.
-
If lighting cues vary during your show, each team should have a stage/lighting coordinator.
-
All stage props must be approved by NGNE two weeks prior to the show. No team is allowed to call the venue for any reason. Five points will be deducted. No fire products will be allowed.
-
All teams must report to all scheduled meetings, practice sessions, interviews and photo sessions on-time.
-
If a team member is found to be grossly un-sportsmanlike causing a disruption to the show, the team will be disqualified.
-
Rules may change based on the tournament show.
